Full FX Media Partners with Mixxatu
Full FX Media is teaming up with Mixxatu, the monthly mixing challenge platform, to give participants free licenses of Impakt.
We’re excited to announce that Full FX Media is partnering with Mixxatu, a platform built around monthly mixing challenges for producers and mixing engineers. As part of the partnership, participants in Mixxatu’s challenges will get free licenses of Impakt, our multiband transient shaper.
What Is Mixxatu
Mixxatu grew out of one simple problem: learning to mix is hard to do in isolation. It’s easy to work on your own tracks in a vacuum, but much harder to know how your decisions stack up against other engineers working on the exact same material, or to get feedback that isn’t just a friend telling you it “sounds good.”
Mixxatu solves that with a monthly format. Every participant works from the same professional multitrack session, downloading the stems and building their own mix from scratch before a submission deadline. Once submissions close, the real value kicks in: mixes are evaluated anonymously by the other participants. Submissions are loudness-normalized before evaluation so louder doesn’t automatically sound better, and because nobody knows whose mix they’re listening to, feedback isn’t skewed by familiarity or reputation.
Evaluations cover the fundamentals that separate a good mix from a great one - tonal balance, low-end control, dynamics, clarity and separation, level balance, and spatial imaging. Participants don’t just get scored; they spend real time critically listening to how other engineers solved the same problem, which is often where the biggest learning happens.
Winning isn’t really the point. The practice is. Mixxatu is built as an ecosystem for people working toward a career in audio, giving them structured, recurring reps on real material alongside access to tools and resources from partners who share that same philosophy.
Each challenge also features an optional plugin or audio tool from one of Mixxatu’s partners. Participants can use it if they find it helpful, but it has zero bearing on the evaluation or the results - it’s there to discover, not to game the contest.
The Partnership
Starting with this partnership, Impakt will be featured in upcoming Mixxatu challenges, and participants will receive a free license to use it - both during the challenge and after.
